Spring is signalling a change in the air
And not only with the longer days and daffodils.
The end of lockdown is looking like it will soon become a much awaited reality, and hopefully we will all be emerging out of our enforced hibernation soon.
I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends again, as well as getting out of Manchester for walks in the Peaks. I’m also exciting about teaching some studio classes again (read on for more about that!)
Often, our energy aligns with the seasons in some way, and we tend to have more enthusiasm, energy and motivation in the spring and summer, and less so in autumn and winter.
But that’s not always the case, and that’s ok – we move in our own rhythms and cycles.
As we move into Spring and into what is hopefully the final few months of lockdown, you might find it helpful to look at what parts of you and your life needs a little longer to hibernate, and what is ready to shake off winter and emerge into bloom?
Your movement, whether that is a yoga practice or something else, is one of the ways that you can check in with where you might be at seasonally. Are you leaning towards slower, more restorative type practices, or do you have more energy for trying new things, being playful with your movement?
It may be that this year, given all that we have faced individually and collectively, you need a little longer to hibernate and stay in wintering mode.
However it is for you, know that your pace is the right pace, whatever that might be right now. |
